WORK 40: General Work Experience

“Where Your Job Site Becomes Your Classroom”

Earn transfer-level elective units while you work or volunteer! All types of jobs count—on campus, off campus, and anywhere in between*. Learn valuable real-world skills while earning units; it’s a win for you and your employers. Maintain fulltime student status while balancing school, work, and home life.

Register online for spring 2018. Select the appropriate course based on the number of units you wish to enroll in:

  • WORK 40 #3001 (1 unit = 60 volunteer or 75 paid hours per semester)
  • WORK 40 #3002 (2 units = 120 volunteer or 150 paid hours per semester)
  • WORK 40 #3003 (3 units= 180 volunteer or 225 paid hours per semester)
  • WORK 40 #3004 (4 units = 240 volunteer of 300 paid hours per semester)

Once registered, check your student email for instructions from your professor during the first week of the spring 18 semester. You must have a job or volunteer site PRIOR to enrolling. Students new to Merced College must complete a Merced College application before enrolling. The class is open to all students, regardless of campus attended or work location.
