How to Apply

The purpose of Promise Housing is to provide an affordable housing option students. A grant from the state of California funded this project and the College must comply with specific requirements for student residency. Promise Housing is open to ALL to apply, but the College must prioritize those with financial need first before considering other applicants.

Please review the list of eligibility requirements before applying:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Must be a full-time Merced College student (12+ units)
  • Pell Grant eligible (or FAFSA equivalent)
  • Single-student housing only (no family and/or dependents)

  • Log into the Housing Portal with your Single Sign On (SSO)
  • Select the Housing Application
  • Please complete the form and fill out all questionnaires truthfully
  • Submit your application!

  • After completing your application, please keep an eye on your emails and Housing Portal for status updates.
  • Housing will update you on whether an offer has been extended. After an offer has been given, please accept it and complete next steps to finalize housing (see Important Dates for deadlines).
  • Optional phases for room and roommate selection may be applicable to the term you are entering. Please pay attention to those deadlines if you choose to participate.
  • Charges will populate on your Student Billing at the date shared by Housing.
  • More communication for move-in logistics, orientation, a checklist, etc. will be sent out by Housing to your student email.

Housing Cancellation:

Please consult your housing contract thoroughly to understand your contractual responsibilities and fees. Please find a copy of the housing agreement here. 

Go to the Housing Portal to submit a Housing Cancellation Request. You will receive an email that your cancellation request is submitted. Please await further communication on the status of your request and any applicable next steps.
