We prioritize those with financial need to comply with the requirements for SB 169 grant, but students who meet other requirements are still encouraged to apply.
No, you must be a full-time Merced College student.
Students may opt into purchasing an additional commuter meal at UC Merced, purchase meals with a debit/credit card, and/or with their Cat Dollars. Steps for this will be shared with residents after their housing is confirmed.
Residents will have access to Resident Assistants (RA) at Promise Housing to talk to about any roommate conflicts. Please start conversations with your RA and if the issues escalate, connect with the Director of Student Housing at Merced College for additional support.

Residents will have free access to Cat Tracks, the bus system powered by UC Merced. Details on the bus schedule and how to utilize its services will be shared when your housing has been confirmed.
Details will be shared with your housing confirmation. Depending on the semester you start housing, your check in location may vary. All check ins will occur on the UC Merced campus.
Yes! Students who attend the Los Banos (LB) campus or have classes between the main campus and LB are eligible for housing. Please be sure you are a full-time student and have a way of commuting from LB to Merced. Cat Tracks is local to Merced and will not travel to LB.
Yes! We prioritize those with financial need first, but we will still consider other applicants based on available spaces.

Yes! We can only approve students who meet the immunization requirements. Please upload your records into MedProctor and/or see Student Health Services for assistance.
Students who lose their status as students will be required to move out of housing within 72 hours. Housing is only for active students.
All students who miss payment will be provided a notice to pay. If you still have an outstanding balance, residents will be required to move out of housing within 72 hours.
Residents may join any campus and housing community program for free while on UC Merced’s campus, including sporting events! Unless the event requires payment, it is already covered with your Student Services Fee.
Residents may also join clubs at UC Merced, but cannot run for board positions.
Yes, there is a community kitchen in Promise Housing for all to use. Please keep the space tidy and label your items!
No, residents are not required to transfer.
If you intend to be a resident in the upcoming term, you must apply to the institution’s housing application. Example: It is currently Fall semester and you attend Merced College. In the Spring you will start classes at UC Merced and need housing. You would apply for housing with UC Merced and not Merced College.
Yes! Housing requires students to reapply every academic year. If you wish to stay for Summer Semester, that is also a separate agreement and students will need to apply for it.
Term Agreements you may apply for:
- Academic Year (Fall & Spring Semesters)
- Spring Semester ONLY (this is for students who plan to move in for spring semester. Those who signed the Academic Year agreement DO NOT have to apply)
- Summer Semester
If you have been waitlisted, we ask that you wait for updates on your housing status. Should a resident cancel or drop from housing, we will reach out and notify your with an offering.
