Application Process

Follow the 5 easy steps to apply at Merced College in order to obtain a student ID and email.

Apply to Merced College the same semester that you apply to the program in order to maintain an active school email address.

Before applying, complete the program’s prerequisites.

All prerequisites must be completed with a “C” or higher and grades demonstrated on transcripts prior to applying.

No “in progress” prerequisites will be accepted. Combined GPA on prerequisites must be a 2.75 or higher.  View this example of how to calculate your GPA.

  • ALLH-67 Medical Terminology
  • BIOL-16 General Human Anatomy
  • CHEM-2A Introductory Chemistry
  • ENGL-1A College Composition & Reading
  • College Level Transferable Math (MATH‐26 or MATH‐25 or MATH‐15 or MATH‐10 or equivalent) or MATH-C equivalent (February 2025 is the last application cycle to apply to the RT Program with MATH-C equivalent)
  • RADT 50 Career Exploration in Medical Imaging or “Verification of Career Exploration Experience”  (Previous version of the form may be used for applying to the program in Spring 2024 for Fall 2024 enrollment.  For future application cycles, we will only accept the currently published form.)
Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Career Exploration
One of the prerequisite courses for the DRT Program is RADT-50 Career Exploration in Medical Imaging.
To receive credit for the RADT-50 prerequisite requirement, an applicant may choose to complete ONE of the two options listed
1. RADT-50 Career Exploration in Medical Imaging An applicant may choose to enroll in a 1-unit RADT-50 Career Exploration in Medical Imaging course. This course is offered ONLY at Merced College. You must register for this class.
2. Verification of Career Exploration Experience Applicants who already have experience working in an imaging environment (rad tech assistant, for example), or who have difficulty enrolling in RADT-50, may elect to submit this form as a petition to the RADT-50 requirement.  The Verification of Career Exploration Experience form can be submitted in place of taking RADT-50 for the purpose of applying to the program. Form will be reviewed by DRT Program Director during the application review process and a grade for application GPA purposes will be based on supervisor’s evaluation.

Previous version of the form may be used for applying to the program in Spring 2024 for Fall 2024 enrollment.  For future application cycles, we will only accept the currently published form.

All applicants are required to upload transcript(s) with their application.

Transcripts must include all work shown as completed on the application. All prerequisites must be completed with a “C” or higher and grades demonstrated on transcripts prior to applying. No “in progress” prerequisites will be accepted. An application that is not completely filled out and/or does not have all transcripts submitted by the application deadline will be considered incomplete.

If prerequisites/coursework was completed at school(s) other than Merced College, official transcript(s) must be sent to both Merced College Admissions & Records for evaluation AND official transcript(s) must be submitted with the application to the RT Program. When submitting official transcripts, please review the Transcripts & Enrollment Verification webpage for important dates and timelines.

If prerequisites/coursework was completed at Merced College, an unofficial transcript must be submitted with the application to the RT Program. Students can login to their Merced College Self-Service account to download a PDF of an unofficial transcript.
