The “Promise” Intersegmental Affordable Student Housing Building is a collaborative project between UC Merced and Merced College, designed to support the transition of Merced College transfer students into UC Merced’s academic community.

The housing development arose from conversations between Merced College President Chris Vitelli and UC Merced Chancellor Juan Sánchez Muñoz about addressing an acute housing shortage that particularly affects low-income residents in the region.
