Alumni Trident Project
If you’d like to continue making an impact, consider a year-end gift through the Alumni Trident Project. This upcoming campus landmark includes the fabrication of a custom 84-inch-tall (7-foot) metal trident sculpture for Merced College, designed as a long-term outdoor focal point and enduring symbol of Blue Devil pride. With a substantial 16-inch depth, the trident is planned as a statement piece that will serve as a visual centerpiece on campus—engineered to resist sun, wind, rain, and time—so it can remain a defining fixture for decades to come.
The monument will be finished with one of two durable outdoor paint systems. A Polyurea hardcoat with latex-based paint offers a textured, impact-resistant finish that provides excellent weather protection and a cost-effective option for long-term exposure. An automotive-grade smooth paint system offers a premium, multi-step process with detailed surface preparation, priming, multiple layers of high-quality automotive paint, and clear coat to achieve a smooth satin look suited for a high-visibility installation.
