Merced College President Chris Vitelli issued the following statement regarding today’s Fresno-Merced Future of Food (F3) announcement:
“Today the White House announced that the F3 initiative will receive $65 million for a new agriculture technician workforce, among other major projects benefiting the Central Valley ag industry. Merced College received an allocation of $27 million from the grant to serve as the project lead on the workforce training component, along with seven other community colleges throughout the valley. This important work will be further supported by another $15 million allocated by Sen. Anna Caballero.
“Merced College is proud to be an innovator in agriculture. This is a great day for the Central Valley and Merced College. We are grateful to Sen. Caballero for her support, and to Ashley Swearingen and the Central Valley Community Foundation for their vision, partnership and leadership.”
