Frequently Asked Questions

PowerPoint tries to guess which screen to send the Slide Show (the one showing the whole slide) and which screen to send the Presenter View (the one showing notes and next slide). There are two ways to fix this:

  1. The first method allows for a quick one-off fix JUST FOR THIS VIEWING. It does not permanently fix the problem, but will quickly fix the issue for your current event. Go to the Presenter View and look for the “Display Settings” tab in the menu bar across the top. Click on that tab and click on “Swap Presenter View and Slide Show” in the drop-down menu. The screens should rearrange into the correct pattern, with the Slide show going out to the projector/center monitor/Confidence Monitor and the Presenter View going out to the Private Monitor.
  2. The second method will permanently fix the problem, but needs to be done ONCE on EACH computer you log on to. BEFORE starting the presentation, in the editing mode, click on the “Slide Show” menu option in the menu bar across the top and then find the “Monitors” section towards the right side of the ribbon. Click on the drop-down to the right of the option labeled “Monitor” and select “Primary Monitor” from the list. Now start the presentation as normal. The screens should be correctly arranged and always will be for all presentations hereafter for THIS logon user on THIS computer.
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT use the Windows Display Settings controls to adjust the displays. This will scramble the displays for ALL users of the system. While is is possible (albeit difficult) to use this method to get the correct output from PowerPoint, it comes at the cost of misconfiguring the system for EVERYONE using it, including yourself.

Ordinarily the Audio Routing control in Windows will be set to “Echo Cancelling Speakerphone – BiAmp” to use the BiAmp system. To switch to the backup sound system, first set the Audio Routing control to “Crestron (Intel Audio Device)” (for details check the Sound section of the Classroom Technology Quick User Guide). Next make sure the Confidence Monitor is turned on and the sound level on the Confidence Monitor is set to an appropriate level (usually at least 80%, often around 90% – 100%). You should now be able to hear sound from the Confidence Monitor.
ALTERNATE POSSIBILITY: Some of our classrooms retain their old amplifier-based sound system that was installed prior to the BiAmp. You can tell if your room has the old system still in place by looking for a pair of wall-mounted speakers flanking the projection screen. If you do, you can still use those speakers. Switch the audio routing to the Crestron (Intel Audio Device) output as described above and then use the projector remote to adjust the volume through the projector to around level 9 or 10. You should now hear the audio coming out of the old speaker system.

The Document Camera has a built-in microphone that can be used as a backup to the ceiling mounted microphones of the BiAmp system. First, make sure the Document Camera is turned on. Next, in Zoom go to the Audio tab at the bottom left and click on the upward caret/upward arrow to the right of the Audio icon. Two sections of audio devices will be listed (Select a microphone and Select a speaker). In the “Select a microphone” section, click on the “Input (Lumens Audio) option. DO NOT choose either of the “Capture Input Terminal” options. You will now have audio input to Zoom from the microphone in the document camera.

NOTES: The pickup range of the Document Camera microphone is fairly short – you’ll need to be within ten feet or so to be heard clearly. Also this microphone is HIGHLY directional – it needs to be facing you to pick up your voice. Turn the camera so that the control panel side of it is facing in your direction.

Press the source button on the white projector remote to auto find the correct input.

  1. Unplug the Crestron box power cord under the podium
  2. Wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in

  1. Click the speaker icon (bottom-right).
  2. Set the output to “Echo Canceling”.

  1. Reset the Biamp box under the podium: unscrew and unplug the power.
  2. Wait 5-10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  3. Allow about 5 minutes; “Echo Canceling” should appear in the sound output options.

1. Right-click the desktop → Display settings → Identify (to see screen numbers).

2. Set Acer monitor + projector (2 & 3) to Duplicate desktop on 2 and 3 (use Identify to confirm).

3. Set the side monitor (1) to Extend for your private screen.

1. On the Crestron box, ensure an HDMI cable is in Input 2, then confirm Input 2 and Output 1 lights are green (BEFORE CONNECTING YOUR ADAPTER OR HDMI TO YOUR DEVICE).

2. Plug the HDMI/USB-C adapter into your Mac/iPad.

3. When prompted, choose Mirror. Note: This also works with newer iPads that have USB-C.

1. In Zoom, make sure the video icon isn’t crossed out. Click the ^ next to it and select TR-01 (there are usually two—try both).

2. If you can’t pick a camera, quit Zoom, then reset the cameras:

  • Toggle power off on the back of each camera.
  • Unplug the USB from the camera and the computer (tan cable; some rooms use a thick blue-tipped USB).
  • Wait 5–10 seconds, power the camera on (it will move while starting).
  • Reconnect the USB to the camera first, then to the PC.

3. Still having issues? Call Help Desk (6180) or AV Help (6670).

The Document Camera can be used as a makeshift Zoom camera for the system. First make sure the Document Camera is turned on and then choose it as the active camera in Zoom. Next, flip up the segment at the end of the arm that holds the camera lens – the lens should now be facing you. Last, click on the “Image Rotate” button on the base of the camera (top left button on the control panel, has a round swooping arrow icon on it) TWICE to rotate the image to the correct orientation for use as a Zoom camera. If the stage lamp is on, use the lamp button (below the Image Rotate button, has a lamp symbol on it) to cycle through the lamp levels to OFF mode. The zoom in and out controls still work, although the easiest way to adjust the image is to move the camera around until it’s placed properly to produce a suitable image.
PLEASE REMEMBER to set the image BACK to the normal setting by pressing the Image Rotate button FOUR times (the image will go through the various position permutations available with this model of camera) and then flip the lens segment back down parallel to the table top.

We have switched to IPEVO Visualizer due to Ladibug issue

1. Power on the document camera first.

2. Open IPEVO Visualizer → agree to the terms → skip the update prompt.

3. Click the ☰ (hamburger) menu (top-Left) → select the Lumens doc cam.

4. Still no image? Set the rear switch on the Doc cam to USB and make sure the power light is blue (on), not green (off).
