Lizbeth Prado-Nava is our February Student of the Month. She is an active member of the Pre-Med Club as she purses her interest in the nursing field. She came to Merced College in 2015 after completing high school and is working towards her A.A. in Social and Behavioral Science. Her plans are to transfer to a four-year institution to earn her B.S. in Nursing. After gaining some experience in the nursing field, she intends to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Currently she volunteers at Mercy Medical Center and is a work-study student in the biology department here at Merced College. Dr. Coburn has witnessed her dedication to the biology core as a student worker and impressed by the fact she is always on time – even when her shift stars at 7:00am. She maintains a 3.5+ GPA and says that she is able to do this, in part, because of the supportiveness of her instructors.
Her nominating instructor, Dr. Cary Coburn, thinks highly of her and “her academic achievements, maturity and pleasant personality which combine to make her a model student and a pleasure to teach.”
She hasn’t decided which university she will transfer to when she completes her education at Merced College but wherever she chooses to go, she will be a success!
