Program Description
Foreign Language affords the learner an in-depth view of a culture and language that will help the student to transcend his or her own cultural boundaries. In an increasingly globalized environment, Foreign Language is the primary tool to unlock cultural differences and facilitate egalitarian communication among nations. Aside from being the hallmark of any well-educated person, Foreign Language study will also enhance and deepen the student’s understanding of his or her own language. Merced College currently offers majors in French, German, and Spanish; a Hmong major will be available in the near future.
