OUTSTANDING STUDENT FOR DECEMBER 2009 Resham Sandhu has been chosen as the Merced College Outstanding Student for the month of December. As a valley native, he was born and raised in Modesto. Sandhu is a single father who says he "enjoys spending time with family, all things natural and authentic."
Merced College Professor Robert Davies nominated Sandhu for being a student who goes out of his way to help other students. "Resham asks insightful questions, is consistently above average in all his work, and he does all this balancing school, work, and family", says Professor Davies.
Sandhu maintains that Merced College has given him a chance to change his life's path. This semester is very nostalgic to him, as he feels that he is embarking upon one of the most important experiences of his life. "Education is such a priceless gift, says Sandhu. "I applaud the instructors and staff of this institution for their commitment to the community." This is his first semester at Merced College, and plans to graduate with honors and transfer to UC Merced where he plans to continue his education in the field of geology. Sandhu was recognized by the Merced College Board of Trustees for his accomplishments. Merced College administration, faculty, and staff congratulate Sandhu and wish him the very best.
