OUTSTANDING STUDENT FOR NOVEMBER 2007 Renee Silva has been selected as the November Outstanding Student at Merced College. Renee is from San Leandro, California and moved to Salida. She has earned her A.S. Degree in Business Operations Management from Modesto Junior College and is currently completing her Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology. Renee has 10 years of experience working with American Express Financial Advisors and obtained her Notary Public, Series 7 brokerage and life insurance licenses. More recently she has worked at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto and found herself drawn to the Radiography Program. She states, "my clinical experiences have been the most valuable learning tools toward my success." On the academic side Renee maintains a 3.76 GPA and has gone the extra mile and completed an advanced imaging modality class in computerized tomography. Her proudest moment was writing an article on "How to Prepare for Clinical Rotation" and it was published in RT Image Magazine on April 9, 2007 issue. She is awaiting the results from the professional state organization's (CSRT) Design Contest where she redesigned the new member cover letter an membership ID card. Renee is also finalizing an article to the Technigram, the state professional newsletter entitled, "As the End of the Internship Approaches." This dynamic woman not only shines academically she is also known as the "fundraising queen of all time" according to Judy Rose. Renee organized and managed a very successful See's Candy Sale for the RT club. Renee was instrumental is obtaining great deals and raising money for the club. Renee is the proud mother of a two year old daughter. She enjoys gardening and being outdoors. Renee looks forward graduating and becoming a Radiologic Technologist at the end of the year. She will be recognized for her achievements at the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting and will receive a check and special parking pass for the month of November.
