Kate Elizabeth Wooster has been selected as the Outstanding Student for October. She was nominated by Judy Rose, Instructor of the Radiography Program for her professionalism and leadership skills.  Kate began in the Radiography Program in Fall of 2005 and will be completing her training in 2008.

Kate is a "caring, funny, bright, professional, diligent beyond belief, wise beyond her age and a natural born leader "according to Ms. Rose.  She was voted by her peers to represent them as their class president and has taken this role seriously.  She devotes much of her time and effort to get the job done.  Her class has helped organize the Annual Bare Bones Conference and will be involved in the production of the Annual Hang Ten Conference in October.

Academically Kate maintains a 3.84 grade point average in all her coursework with "A" grades in the clinical experience coursework.  Kate also attended San Joaquin Delta College and Cuesta College where she received her Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies.  Kate grew up in Copperopolis on a cattle ranch and still enjoys helping her father gather, brand and ship their cattle. Kate travels great distances from her current home in Oakdale to Sonora Regional Hospital for her clinical experience and to Merced College for classes. Even though Kate commutes long distances she feels fortunate to be at Merced College in this quality program.

When asked about her goals, she said she would like to "work  in a hospital where her skills can help those that need it the most".  Kate was recognized for her achievements at the October Board of Trustees meeting and will receive a check and special parking pass.
