MERCED COLLEGE HUMAN SERVICES MAJOR

For an Associate in Arts Degree in Human Services, students must meet the graduation requirements and complete the curriculum (32-35 units) listed below. These courses must be in addition to the basic graduation requirements.

COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING COURSES:

CS 30 Computer Applications 3 units
Hum Svc 50 Survey and Utilization of Community Resources 3 units
Hum Svc 51  Human Behavior and the Helping Process 3 units
Hum Svc 61 Social Welfare 3 units`
Psych 23 Personal and Social Adjustment 3 units
Psych 51 Applied Psychology 3 units
Speech 5 Interpersonal Communication 3 units

STUDENTS MUST TAKE TWO OF THE FOLLOWING COURSES:

 Anthro 10 Southeast Asian Culture: Emphasis Hmong Culture 3 units
Hist 22 History of Minorities: Black Emphasis 3 units
Hist 23 History of Hispanic Americans in the Southwest U.S. 3 units

STUDENTS MUST ALSO CHOOSE ONE COURSE FROM THE FOLLOWING ELECTIVES:

 Ad Stu 41 Introduction to Addiction Studies 3 units
AJ 33 Family Violence 3 units
Psych 1A Introduction to Psychology 3 units
Psych 9 Human Development 3 units
