Merced College is approved to train veterans and eligible persons under Title 38 U.S. Code. Application inquiries should be directed to the Merced College Veterans Desk located in the Admissions and Registration Area (209) 384-6113. Class registration information can be found in the “Schedule of Classes” booklet printed each semester. It is the responsibility of each eligible person to notify the Veterans Desk at the college that he/she is enrolling EACH semester. Short-term classes are usable toward the education benefit only during the period of time that the class is in session. If benefits are discontinued for any reason, reinstatement can occur by complying with the requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs. In keeping with Title 38 U.S. Code, a veteran or eligible person is required to make satisfactory progress toward their academic objective. The college is required to certify satisfactory progress on the quality of performance and progress toward objectives. Classes in which a “D” or “F” is earned, or classes listed as repeatable in the catalog, may be repeated and may be qualified for educational benefits if such classes are required for graduation or transfer objectives. Veterans Services provides enrollment assistance for new and continuing students receiving educational benefits under the Montgomery G.I. Bill.
