About Puente Students
Puente Students

Come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds (The Puente Program is
open to all students.)

Plan to transfer to a 4-Year college or university to complete a degree
-
Receive professional and academic counseling in preparation for transfer
-
Receive job experience through service learning component
-
Receive mentoring advice and support from a professional in the
community
-
Attend the statewide Puente Transfer conference
-
Receive financial assistance for college (if they qualify)
-
Excel in developing writing and reading skills with an accelerated
English sequence
-
Read Latino/Mexican-American literature as they gain knowledge about
their own lives and cultures
-
Take both the required English classes (A/1A) and Guidance classes (48/49)
-
Agree to participate in Puente sponsored events--including visits to
colleges and universities

Participate in the Puente Mentor Program
