Puente Mentoring Program

Puente students are matched with an academically and professionally successful mentor from the community. The network of trained Puente mentors provides many resources for the Puente students, their families, their colleges, and the community.

About Puente Mentors

• Are professionals from the local community

• Meet with an assigned student 8 hours per semester (16 hours a year)

• ¬Provide students with professional and higher-education experiences

• Provide students with visits to mentor's work sites

• Create an environment for sharing of personal, academic, and career experiences

• May assist students in obtaining scholarships and internships

• Introduce students to professional organizations

• Provide resources for students

• Demonstrate that academic and professional success are possible without abandoning one’s culture

• Attend local mentor training and activities (1 mentor training and 1 or 2 activities through out the year)
