Information
Continuing Education Noncredit Free Classes have
in-class registration with the exceptions of classes where space is limited.
Simply show up to any class that you are interested in taking and the
instructor will have the forms for you to fill out.
Classes that are limited by seating require that you pre-register.
Call the number listed next to the course description.
Who May Attend?
To enroll in most noncredit free classes, you must be at least 16 years
old. Any California resident may enroll and participate in noncredit classes
regardless of where you live.
Minimum Class Sizes
Noncredit Tuition Free Classes may be cancelled if sufficient enrollment
and attendance are not maintained. Continuing Education reserves the rights
to cancel classes at any time.
When are Classes Offered?
Classes are offered year round. Fall Semester classes begin in August.
Spring classes start in January and Summer classes start in June. Official
class start and end dates vary throughout the semesters. Please check
the Horizons or the class listings for detailed class information.
Attendance
Classes are open “enrollment” meaning that you can start a
noncredit class any time during the semester that the class is offered.
However, the continuation of classes do depend on class
size and attendance. If there is not enough interest in a class, the class
may be canceled.
Grading & Credits
Noncredit grades do not offer a letter grade. In specific courses that
offer certificates upon completion, you will have to pass competencies.
Noncredit classes do not offer unit credits toward a degree
program or transfer units to a four year educational institution. Noncredit
classes do not substitute for any Merced College credit classes.

Classes are offered throughout four counties in the Central Valley. You
can find the location of your class by looking at the class list. City
and addressees are located next to each class.
