Refund Policy for Classes and Trips

Please review before registering

 

Please note the different refund policies for the various programs within our Community Services office.

 

Community Services realizes that extenuating circumstances do arise. However, Community Services does not receive tax support. We are a fee-supported entity of the college. Your enrollments pay the cost of the program and the office. In many cases we are unable to recoup the costs incurred if you drop a class after the drop date. In regard to this, we have established the following policies:

 

REFUNDS FOR CLASSES

If you need to cancel a class please contact our office 7 days before the start date. Merced College Community Services will retain a $10 processing fee per class, except in cases where our office is responsible for changes or mistakes. If you paid by check or cash, the refund will be by check and will arrive by mail. If you paid by credit card, the refund will be processed as a credit back to the same card that was used. Refunds take approximately 4-6 weeks to process.

 

If you need to cancel 7 days or less before the start date of a class, you will need to write a letter of request to our Director, Chris Vitelli.  These requests will be reviewed and a refund or partial refund may be granted if extenuating circumstances are presented.  Community Services reserves the right to deny any refund request(s) within this 7 day period.

 

NOTE: Once a class begins, we will not refund any portion of the course fee.

 

Community Services reserves the right to cancel any classes, for any reason.  Full refunds are automatically granted if a class is cancelled by our office.

 

VOUCHERS

Vouchers will no longer be issued for Community Services classes or trips. If you have a voucher, we will still honor it, until the expiration date on the voucher.

 

REFUNDS FOR TRIPS

Full refunds are given for all trips and tours cancelled by Community Services.  Participants registered for a trip must comply with the following cancellation procedures/policies if requesting a refund:

 

Day trips
You will need to cancel the trip 7 days before the departure date. There will be a $20 processing fee when you cancel a trip. If you cancel after 7 days and we have a waiting list and can replace you, you will receive a refund, minus the $20 processing fee.

 

Trips with pre-purchased tickets, meals, etc.
On trips that we have had to pre-purchase tickets, pay for admission, meals, etc. we need to have 30 days notice before the departure date to receive full refund, minus the $20 processing fee. If you cancel the trip after the 30 day deadline and we have a waiting list and we are able to fill your seat(s) we will issue a refund minus the $20 processing fee. The processing fee is per person.  If after the 30 day deadline, refunds will not be given unless there is a replacement for you on the trip.
