Merced College Pharmacy Technician Program The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. This course combines 182-hours of classroom instruction with a 120-hour pharmacy externship to provide you with a complete learning experience. Our pharmacy technician program prepares the student to sit for the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam to become a certified pharmacy technician. The exam is optional in the state of California. Course
fee: $2,090 includes textbooks, supplies, externship placement, and course
completion certificate. A non-refundable $100 will hold your space, with the
final sum due three days prior to the start of class. Certification: Graduates will receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of California. Methods of Evaluation: Participants will take two short pre-screen exams on the first day (basic Math and English) skills). There are two mid-term exams and one final exam. Must be 18years of age and high school completion or equivalent. Pre-registration is required and an application must be completed prior to class.
