Scholarships
Scholarships provide additional funds for educational
needs of students that does not need to be repaid. Traditionally,
students begin their search for scholarships in their senior year of
high school. The search for scholarships should begin no later than the
spring of the student’s junior year of high school and continue
throughout the student’s educational journey in postsecondary
institutions.
Success in obtaining scholarships cannot be guaranteed,
but it can be enhanced by:
- Spending 2-3 hours a week searching and applying for
scholarships that are right for you.
- Utilizing numerous sources in locating
scholarships:
- School counselor
- Colleges and Universities
- Scholarship search sites on the internet

- Professional, Community and Religious
organizations
- Past scholarship winners
- Submit complete scholarship application packages on
time, taking care to meet all requirements that have been specified.
- Create and maintain a scholarship portfolio
containing material that can be used for future scholarship
applications.
- Network with others in supporting your efforts by
providing feedback on essays, letters of recommendation, performing
practice interviews, and providing encouragement.
