Grant Eligibility and Application Process
Basic Eligibility
Requirements
- California resident
- U. S. citizen or
eligible non-citizen
- Meet U. S. Selective
Service Requirements
- Attend a qualifying
California postsecondary institution
- Minimum enrollment
as a half-time student
- Maintain satisfactory
academic progress
- Family income and
assets below minimum level established by the state
- Not be in default
on any student loans
- Not owe any federal
or state grant refund
Application Process
- Submit a FAFSA
- Submit a GPA Verification
form
Some high schools submit student’s GPA electronically to the state.
In this case, the student should make sure the school has submitted
the student’s GPA electronically.
- Deadline
Although the FAFSA is accepted year-round, students who plan to attend
a California College and be eligible for State funds must submit their
FAFSA and GPA Verification Form before March 2nd of each year. There
is an additional Community College State deadline of September 2nd of
each year.
