How do I save my file as RTF? I am sending Word assignments to my instructor as attachments and they cannot open the files. Why is that so? How do I fix the problem? Please understand that there are many Word Processors in the market. Each Word processor saves the files in a slight different version from each other. Microsoft Word saves files in .doc format, MS Works saves another format, Corel uses another format. Each manufactures uses a different formats and on most cases, they are incompatible with each other. What is RTF Format? RTF format is a universal format that is standard to different word processors. It does not have all the features of the Word Processor, like images, page numbering, tables, etc. However, it is a format that is universal. How do I save my file in RTF format? On your Word Processor click on FILE, then on SAVE AS
A new box (GUI) appears on your screen. Choose RTF as the type of file and you are done!
You can send the file now. Be assured that anyone will be able to open and read your file.
