Library
Services
Faculty Librarians
are available most of the Library open hours to help students find
information to support their class work. Librarians also provide tours
and orientations for instructors and work collaboratively with faculty
on discipline-specific assignments and search tools.
Some instructors place textbooks and other materials on reserve in the
Library for their students to read for class assignments. The instructor
reserve section of the Library is located behind the circulation desk.
Please ask a Reference Librarian for help in using the automated catalog
to locate the call number for the reserve material you want. When you
have the call number, you can take it to the circulation desk to have
the reserve materials pulled for you. Please have your student body card
with the current semester sticker ready. The Library does not purchase
textbooks. The only textbooks available are those provided by
instructors.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff of the Library can help students
and faculty alike locate the educational materials they need for their
class work. Please feel free to ask them for help in finding those
elusive articles.
In addition to open study areas and tables, individual carrels, and
comfortable easy chairs, the Library has 12 student study rooms for
individual or small group use. There are also two meeting rooms that
seat 25 and a media viewing room that can be reserved in advance for
groups larger than eight.
Over 70 computer stations are available for student use and have access
through the MC Portal to the Internet, Britannica OnLine, SIRS, Lexis
Nexis Academic Universe, Ethnic Newswatch, and an e-book collection of
over 15,000 titles. These computer stations also provide access to
Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint. Technology
for use in the Library includes microfilm reader-printers, VHS / DVD
viewers, and CD players. Interlibrary loan is available to students and
staff.
