General Description:
This
is a full-time tenure-track instructional assignment in the
Mathematics Department under the general direction of the Dean
of the Science, Math and Engineering Area or the Dean of the Los
Banos Campus. The
professor will teach a full lecture load.
The
professor must be willing to teach all levels of mathematics,
from fundamentals of mathematics through transfer level courses.
The standard
teaching load is 15 units per semester, which may include
evening hours.
Essential Functions:
Science, Math, & Engineering
Area: The
Mathematics Department consists of 19 full-time members within
the 35-member Area.
The Area employs approximately 50 adjunct faculty members both
on the main campus and at the off-campus centers.
It offers a full range of classes from the pre-associate
degree to the sophomore transfer level.
The Math Department offers classes ranging from beginning
algebra to differential equations.
There is a Math Lab, which contains 24 computers, five
TV/VCR units and space for tutorial services.
The Math Lab is open 49 hours per week and staffed by
Math instructors.
Los Banos Campus:
The
Los Banos Campus of the Merced Community College District is a
full service college center located approximately forty miles
west of Merced.
Approximately 150
classes are taught each semester, ranging from developmental to
transfer level coursework. The campus enrolls about 2,000
students from the western side of Merced County. There are 17
full time professors and approximately 40 adjunct faculty
members.

Interview
Information:
Those applicants deemed most qualified for the position will be
invited to appear for oral interviews before a screening
committee which includes a
15-minute teaching demonstration on a selected topic.
Finalist interviews with district administrators will
follow the next day.
A limited number of candidates will be invited to interviews.
Expenses for travel and accommodations will be the
responsibility of the candidates.

Condition
