Position: SLO/SAO PROGRAM REVIEW ASSISTANT        EXTENDED  
Salary:
$2,757/month

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Associate Degree from an acceptable accredited institution AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience
  • At least one year experience of databases, spreadsheets experience, writing technician reports and developing surveys
  • Candidate must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

General Description:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, provides specialized assistance related to the assessment of Institutional, Student Learning (SLO) and Service Area Outcomes (SAO) as well as Program Review.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as liaison to the software companies and the college to trouble shoot program software problems and implement updates, e. g., Governet, Class Climate and Program Review programs
  • Assists in the preparation of reports for the State Chancellorís Office and accreditation liaison officer
  • Assists SLO/SAO liaisons and accreditation liaison officer in the coordination, preparation, distribution, collection, scoring and reporting of numerous State-mandated, organizational and specialized paper and web-based surveys and reports
  • Assists SLO/SAO liaisons with training in the assessment of SLOs to College faculty, managers, and staff; training to personnel concerning data collection and accountability policies, procedures, and software  
  • Assists the curriculum chair with tasks related to SLOs/SAOs and Program Reviews
  • Complete purchase orders and travel request and maintain the budget record
  • Maintains accurate records and files
  • Maintains the Websites related to SLO/SAO
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and oversees a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Provides specialized assistance related to the integration of SLO/SAO assessment into instructional and service area improvement, institutional evaluation systems, and College planning and management in collaboration with SLO/SAO liaisons
  • Works collaboratively with instructional Areas and faculty, administrative units, and staff to design and conduct outcomes assessment; disseminates results as appropriate
  • Perform other related duties as required

Knowledge of:

  • Basic principles and practices of data research, processing and analysis
  • Class Climate survey design, scanning and reporting Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, as well as Adobe Dreamweaver or equivalent HTML editor
  • Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
  • District policies and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication, technical report writing and editing skills
  • General functions, policies, rules, and regulations of a complex organization such as a community college
  •  Interpret and apply laws, codes, rules, and regulations related to Accreditation, State and federally mandated reporting (e.g., ACCJC, CTEA, Gainful Employment, etc.)
  • Microcomputers, word processing software programs, data base software programs, spreadsheet software programs, CurricuNet, and Class Climate
  • Modern office equipment, practices, and procedures including Microsoft Office 2010 applications
  • Principles, practices, and techniques of database structures and query designs
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • Student Learning Outcomes Assessment methods

Ability to:

  • Learn new technological processes and applications
  • Perform assigned technical/clerical procedures
  • Perform research, data compilation, analysis and evaluation, taking corrective action as needed
  • Proficiently use the computer and various software applications
  • Read, understand, learn and apply pertinent procedures and requirements
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Work independently and with a minimum of supervision
  • Work with the public and other District employees in an effective, tactful, and diplomatic manner

Interview Information: Those applicants deemed most qualified for the position will be invited to appear for oral interviews before a screening committee.  Finalist interviews with district administrators may follow.  A limited number of candidates will be invited to interviews.  Expenses for travel and accommodations will be the responsibility of the candidates.
