Required Text: Intermediate Algebra, Tussy and Gustafson.

Supplemental Text (Optional): Algebra the Easy Way, Barron's

Course Description: This course covers the properties of the real numbers, operations, polynomials, rational expressions including roots and radicals, functions, equations and inequalities (linear, quadratic and systems) and their graphs and complex numbers. Mathematical terminology and written problems will be emphasized throughout the course.

Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or better in Math A or equivalent.
Be certain that you have the prerequisite for this class!!!

Grading Policy: Your letter grade will be based on your percentage of possible points.
A 90.0 - 100%           C 70.0 - 79.99%
B 80.0 - 89.99%        D 60.0 - 69.99%

Method of Student Evaluation:
Six Examinations (Opportunities) worth 100 points each.
(Each exam REQUIRES an 8.5" x 11" note sheet. You may use both sides for any notes)
Quizzes/Homeworks/Other Assignments worth from 10 to 100 points each.
Final Examination (cumulative) worth 200 points.

Make-up Policy: TURN YOUR WORK IN ON TIME
Examinations—No make-up, the lowest exam (except Exam 6 or final) will be dropped.
 Quizzes—No make up, the lowest will be used as extra credit.
 Homework/Other Assignments—No Make-up. TURN YOUR WORK IN ON TIME!!!

Registration:
1.  You must register for this class at the office.
 2.  The last day to register for this class is January 19, 2001.
 3.  The last day to drop this class is May 4, 2001.
 4.  After May 4, 2001, if you are enrolled, you will receive an A, B, C, D or F.  An incomplete is
given for the most serious and compelling reasons, and must be negotiated before 5/17/01.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILTY TO DROP THE CLASS IN ORDER TO AVOID A GRADE. However, you may be dropped on your third absence or on your fourth tardy. (i.e. you are allowed two absences or three tardies).
