Sociology 2 What I like most about this class (Contemporary Social Problems) is the flexibility with which we can interact, explore and discuss social issues. Generally, the class develops it's own sense of norms (emergent norms) that are often very different from my other classes. In the academic arena this is good. It provides us with a great opportunity to study social issues from a variety of perspectives while employing our collective; as well as, individual creativity and innovation. From the very first class meeting we will begin discussion on how best to accomplish the goal of learning about social problems. Essentially, this means you have considerable input into how the class is going to function. I will share with you what has worked and what has not worked, and then we can discuss ideas, thoughts and opinions. So...come to class prepared to discuss and share your thoughts, and most importantly, interact.
