HUMAN SEXUALITY

Studying human sexuality is really about personal and self discovery.  As sexual beings much of who we are and who we will someday become is directly connected to our sense of sexuality.  Therefore, the more we know and the more comfortable we are about human sexuality the more likely we are to feel better about ourselves.

Begin this semester with establishing a personal sexual philosophy, which should include knowledge, values, understanding, expectations, attitudes and beliefs relating to you as a social individual, and also as a sexual being.  As we study this complex area you will begin to focus on many topics that help to define humans as sexual beings.  In the course of this semester we will explore what it means to be normal  or abnormal; sexual myths and misconceptions, develop an understanding of human sexuality issues and concerns, and ways to stay sexually healthy.

Take this opportunity to learn about your self, and the social world that often provides inaccurate information about human sexuality.  With the knowledge we gain in class we can become better and more informed consumers of research and reporting about human sexuality.
