MATH A -- MATH LAB INSTRUCTIONS (Mr. Power) NAME _________________
1. The Math Lab is located in the Science building, room S14 (together with the Biology 1 Lab).
2. Check in at the desk. You will need your Student Body Card.
3. Select a computer to work at. Math Lab users: be aware that each computer automatically stores a record of your work on that specific machine.
4. On your machine, select the Math Pro Explorer MPE icon on the menu. You can use the mouse to move the cursor to the icon and double-click with the mouse. Or, click once with the mouse and then press ENTER).
5. Select "Click here to login for record keeping." Enter your name. Home users will only have to do this step the first time you run the program.
6. Select the appropriate Chapter, then Section, then Objective.
7. Click on Example and read the computer's brief summary of the topic. Click X to close this window.
8. Put on the headset and click on Watch to see and hear a mini-lecture on the topic (usually less than a minute). Adjust the volume with the thumbwheel/slider control on the headset cord. Click X to close this window.
9. Check Ö Exercises to get the computer to generate a set of exercises to be scored for your lab.
If you skip this step, you will be doing warm-up problems, and the computer will not count them in your score.
10. ASSIGNMENT: Do exercises 3, 6 and 9 for every objective in every section in the chapter.
For special characters and formats (square roots, fractions, absolute values, exponents, £, ³, ¹, p, ¥, etc.), you will sometimes need to click on the pop-up buttons above the answer screen, as shown here:


11. After you type your answer to each question, you can either check Ö Check Answer or press the Enter key on the keyboard.
12. When you finish each objective, click on Objective at the bottom of the screen to select the next objective. Likewise, when you finish each section, click on Section to select the next section.
13. When you have finished your work, click on Section, then Summary, then Chapter Scores.
14. Print the Chapter Scores page. After you get your printout, click Cancel to close the Print window.
15. Close the Scores window and Exit from the program.
