MATH 2 – STUDY GUIDE FOR CHAPTER 9

9.1       Without a calculator, complete the table of values of trig functions of special angles:

0o

30o

45o

60o

90o

sin θ

cosθ

tanθ

9.1       (No calculator):  Use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate the third side of the right triangle, and then find the trig values:

            a.         sinθ

            b.         cosθ

            c          tanθ

9.1       Use your calculator to find the angle θ in the previous problem

9.1       Find the missing sides in this right triangle:

9.2       If the angle of elevation from the ground to the top of a building is 38o and it is 42 feet from the base of the building to the tip of its shadow, how tall is the building?

9.3       Find the largest angle in a triangle for which   a = 6.5, b = 8.3, and c = 14.7

9.3       Find the missing side of a triangle if   a = 12.3, c = 8.7, and B = 53.2o.

9.4       In the previous problem, after finding the missing side, find the other two angles.

9.4       Find side c in a triangle if A = 37o, B = 78o, and side a = 13.2
