Michelle began her academic career at Merced College with an Associate of Arts Degree, she then earned her Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics and Food Service Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and completed her Master's Degree in Education  from Chapman University in Orange, California.

Michelle is a Registered Dietitian with certifications in Food Safety and Lactation Education her special interest is in the prevention of Childhood Overweight. She has earned a certificate from the American Dietetic Association in Childhood and Adolescent Obesity Management.  Michelle has experience with hospitals, outpatient nutrition counseling, diabetes education and most recently in schools with obesity prevention programs.  Michelle has taught part-time at Merced College since 1990 and has been fulltime since 2002.
