REGN-15 Nursing in Health & Illness I (Theory)

Expected Student Outcomes (ESO)

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to verbally or in writing:

A. Recognize basic bio-psycho-social concepts related to the maintenance of homeostasis.

B. Demonstrate basic assessments.

C. Distinguish and demonstrate therapeutic communication.

D. Evaluate the steps of the nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning intervention, evaluation.

E. Relate theory to practice in the clinical setting.

F. Describe common computer applications and related social and ethical problems/impact with emphasis on nursing applications.

G. Understand the difference between information and knowledge.

H. Evaluate healthcare internet web-sites including the assessment of electronic database sources and references.

I. Recognize the different levels, types, and formats of information including but not limited to primary vs. secondary, and popular vs. scholarly.

J. Understand the basic structure of electronic databases and the strategies used to access them.

K. Learn fundamental operation and concepts of word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database software applications.
