This assignment is to assist you in obtaining actual information from an older person regarding the impact of the aging process on the person Assignment requirements: Interview an alert at least 75-year-old person either living in his/her own home or with family. The person must have some limitations (e.g. needing Meals on Wheels or family does shopping for him/her etc.) but is in reasonable good health. Any information that you could not get from the person can also be obtained from family members. Circle one category in each section and complete the Assessment Comment. Grading Criteria: 10 points based on completeness of paper. |

Nutrition is a key component in the management of a client’s medical care. The RN is expected to be knowledgeable in the theoretical and practical components of nutrition in order to more fully apply the nursing process to client care. In this paper you will identify nutrition components in a practical way as they apply to you as a First Semester nursing student. A secondary purpose is to write a professional paper according the requirements outlined in the RN Program. Assignment Requirements: You will select one of the case studies to write about the nursing role in the client’s nutrition answering the questions following the study. The paper must meet the Paper Grading Criteria as outlined for the Program with some adaptations as below for this specific paper. Write a paper that is no longer than four (4) pages, double spaced including an introduction, a body, and a conclusion in the paper. For font comparability use either Ariel size 12 or Times New Roman size 13. Include face sheet with your name, class, name of assignment and date to be placed in a pocket folder or the see-through binder type. List your research citations (minimum of 3) and references in a separate sheet at the end. Research must be under five years old! |

Communication Assessment |
Communication is a critical skill for the RN. This assessment begins a process for the student to explore his or her own communication style and ability. Assignment Requirements: Two web sites are accessed and a leadership and personality test taken. Complete the tests and print the final page after submission. Write a brief statement about how you agree or disagree with the results of these tests. Ask someone close to you to read the results and tell you why he or she agrees or disagrees. Write a brief statement of this conversation. The web sites are: World’s Shortest Personality Test Grading Criteria: Worth total of 10 points based on bringing in the results of both tests and your assessments of these results as indicated above. |

Students are divided into groups of 2 to prepare a presentation including the use of PowerPoint ™ discussing the topic provided. Each presentation is to be 10-12 minutes long and both students must participate in the development and presentation. Objectives: · Explain the RN’s responsibility in understanding pathophysiology concepts in providing care to the ill client. · Identify the elements in designing a pathophysiology prep sheet. · Complete the required pathophysiology prep sheets as outlined below for Diabetes Mellitus Type I. · In the Patient Care Plan documentation, demonstrate the ability to integrate the client’s variety of pathophysiologies. Assignment Requirements: Students work in small groups during class designated times to discuss the designated area and then complete that section individually for submission. The recap sheet & patho sheet are submitted in a pocket folder for review until complete. Grading Criteria: Pass/fail based on proper submission and completeness. |
