FAMILY CULTURAL PATH

The purpose of this assignment is to give students an opportunity to learn about and reflect upon one feature of their family history. Specifically students are required to write an analysis of your journey to Merced or the place you call home. This assignment will provide insight into the decisions, hardships and relationships your family has experienced.

There are two parts to this assignment. The first consists of obtaining information on your family’s journey. Start by interviewing your family members. Some will know more than others. Some will be more open than others.

The second part of this assignment consists of a paper that describes your findings. Ideally, the paper should be 2-3 pages (Typed), that describes the results of your inquiry. Start the paper by describing the procedures you used to obtain the information. Follow this discussion with a narrative essay that describes your family journey.

Incorporate relevant concepts from the course into your discussion.

There are no right and wrong answers, but there quality papers and papers that are lacking. Basically, you will get out of this assignment what you put into it.
