Weeks 1 & 2

January 14-25

Please remember that assignments and readings are to be completed before the class session. For example, the reading & assignment listed on Thurs 1/17 should be completed BEFORE you arrive to class on the 17th.

WEEK 1

Mon. 1/14 Introduction to Course – Buy Your Books!

 

Tues. 1/15 Diagnostic Essay. Bring pen or pencil to class and be ready to write!

 

Wed. 1/16 Support Services Journey

 

 

You will need to bring your textbook to class EVERY DAY now. Please come prepared!

Thurs. 1/17 Read Ch. 2 p. 28-34 and "Bok Lived to Tell of Capture, Slavery" p. 470-471 in Expressways. Do Ex. 2-4 p.34-35 using this essay

Career/Transfer Presentation

Fri. 1/18 Read Ch. 2 p.35-46 in Expressways. Do exercise 2-8 p. 40 for the essay "Bok Lived to Tell…" p.470-71. Bring textbook & completed exercise to class.

WEEK 2

Mon. 1/21 NO CLASSES
Tues. 1/22 Bring your textbook to class. Presentation on "Get to Know Your Textbook"

 

Wed. 1/23 Library Tour. Meet in front of the library by 11:00 sharp

 

Thurs. 1/24 Read p. 47-53 and practice active reading suggestions. Journal #1 due (at the beginning of class). For Journal #1 choose #1, 2 or 3 Reacting to Ideas p.51 and write a 1 page response.
Fri. 1/25 Read Ch. 1 p.2-13. Annotate your text and bring textbook to class.
