Goals: CC - Natalie Peng 3, Stephanie Rosero 2, Adriana Rodriguez 2, Angie Silva 1, Denise Vega 1, Hannah Llamas 1, Karen Aguirre 1; LBCC - Ashley Cordobes 2, Jenna Stain 2, Kimmy Morrison 2 Goalie Saves: CC - Miranda Bakke 9, LBCC - Chelsea Datt 2 Game Story - Number 3 South Cerritos College behind the outstanding goal tending of Miranda Bakke scored early and often to hold on for an 11-6 win over South no. 2 Long Beach City College. Early in the fourth quarter with 7:40 left in the game Bakke stopped a penalty shot by Raylynn Castillo and all but sealed the victory for Cerritos. For the Cerritos women it is the first time in school history that they have won the State Championship.
Men's State Championship Match - 1:30pm
Goals: GC - Emilio Viera 5, Rex Learmouth 3, Ricky Moniz 2, Colin McKibben 2, Joao Felip Coelho 1, Nathan Castillo 1 ; WVC - Patrick Van der Linde 3, Sefa Tuiasu 2, Jasper Visser 2, Matt Golden 2, Fabian Wanrooji 2, Goalie Saves: GWC - Toby Devine 11, WVC - Juan Fradera 6 Game Story - Championships are meant to be like todays between the two top teams from the North and South. West Valley from the North and Golden West from the South. A game that saw ebs and flows with each team seemingly pulling out to a lead, only to be caught by their opponent. Entering overtime both teams were tied eleven. Golden West lead by Tournament MVP Emilio Viera lead an overtime charge that saw them finish the first ot period with a two goal advantage. Defense, and the play by GWC Goalie Toby Devine, the Rustlers held the Vikings to no goals in both overtime periods. Viera scored a late goal in the second overtime sealing any chance the Vikings had in coming back.
