Mission Statement

 

 

 

 

 

The Mission of the Merced College Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Program is to prepare our students for careers as diagnostic radiographers by providing a continually-improving educational program which is accredited by the JRCERT and by instilling in our students a commitment to continued professional growth and lifelong learning.

Goals

In support of this Mission, the Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Program:

1. will uphold the standards for satisfactory education preparation for entry into the program
2. will provide curriculum which
  a. emphasizes the principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others
  b. supports and assesses the knowledge and skills required to intelligently perform the tasks typically required of entry level radiographers
3. will encourage students to develop
  a. effective communication skills
  b. critical thinking skills enhance their problem solving skills
  c. a commitment for life-long learning in preparation for a complex and changing society
4. will advocate and expect ethical and compassionate treatment of patients

Program ESOs (Expected Student Outcomes)

Upon completion of the Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Program, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate critical thinking skills
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills
3. Employ the principles of radiation protection measures
4. Demonstrate entry level clinical competency
5. Evaluate and adhere to the ethical and compassionate treatment of patients
6. Demonstrate an appreciation of life-long learning
