January 29, 2007 Merced College invites the local community to an afternoon of inspirational music in celebration of Black History Month. The “Glorious Gospel Jubilee” concert is scheduled for Sunday, February 25 at 3 p.m. in the College Theater. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is also free. The gospel concert features outstanding choirs from two local churches and well-known gospel musician Reggie Graham. Merced’s very own Apostolic Tabernacle Mass Choir with “Hands of Praise” will be joined by the New Faith Tabernacle Inspirational Choir featuring Gwen Amey. Both choirs are known locally for their tremendously uplifting and praise-centered gospel presentations. From Sacramento, The Reggie Graham Project is billed as “music with a gospel reality, a jazz musicality, and a praise mentality.” Leader and keyboardist Reggie Graham began his music career in Sacramento but he flourished in the Bay area as the organist in jazz legend Jon Hendrick’s “The Evolution of the Blues” stage production. He has traveled the world as part of the Latin-rock group “Santa Esmeralda” and has performed with gospel recording artists Helen Stevenson, Angella Christie, and Arthur Jones. Graham is currently serving as the minister of music at the Antioch Progressive Church. Sponsored by the Merced College Diversity Committee, the gospel concert will also include refreshments after the event. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, call John Albano at 384-6368 or Isabel Cambridge at 381-6523. GOSPEL JUBILEE 1/29/07
