August 9, 2006 On Friday, September 1, Merced College Community Services will begin their Fall 2006 Adventure Travel Film Series – The Travelogues at 3:00p.m. and 7:00 p.m. for five consecutive Fridays at the Merced College Theater. Looking for an adventure the whole family can enjoy? Want to see the world? The Travelogue series is your passport to adventure – right here at Merced College! The series opens on Friday, September 1 with Robin Williams and his film “Lindberg’s Flight to Paris.” A spectacular presentation of Lindbergh’s flight and times presented in person by the filmmaker. Travel from the San Diego Aerospace Museum across the United States to New York, Nova Scotia, England, and finally to Paris. On Friday, September 8 join filmmaker Sid Nolan in a train called the “Rossia” as it thunders across Russia on the world’s longest rail line, the famous Trans-Siberian. In his film “Rails Across Russia”, Sid Nolan takes us on a six and half day journey over more than 8,500 miles through eight time zones as the Rossia carries its passengers from the Russian capital of Moscow to the Pacific port city of Vladivostok. . Steve McCurdy will be back for his second year in Merced with his film “Postcards from Italy,” on Friday, September 15. This is an insider’s look at Southern Italy. From the Island of Sicily to the mountain top towns of Irsina and Matera. This is a fascinating combination of stories and images, documenting life in Italy in a way you have never seen before! Buddy Hatton will be here on Friday, September 22 with “Vietnam – A Land of Surprises.” Visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, beautiful beaches, historic landmarks, and a UNESCO designated royal city. Filmmaker Doug Jones will be returning to Merced College with his film entitled “Cruising the Orient on the QE II” on Friday, September 29. This film gives a glimpse of life in some of the most interesting travel destinations in the world. You will see Sydney Harbor Bridge to the Great Wall of China! And the experience will take place from the gangway of one of the most legendary cruise liners of all time; the Queen Elizabeth II. Series tickets are $18 for seniors, Students and Children and $23 for General Admission. Tickets for the series are available at the following Merced outlets:
Series tickets are also available in Atwater at the Seraphim Café at 2801 Winton Way. Single admission tickets are $5.50 General and $4.50 for seniors, Students and Children and are sold at the Theater Box Office only, one hour before each program. For more information, call 384-6224.
