Merced College Summer Community Band Summer Concert Series:
“Looking Back, Looking Ahead”

May 31, 2005

The Merced College Summer Community Band will be presenting a series of six concerts at Merced College this summer! Come join the fun as the band performs a myriad of styles of music, from the Big Band Sound of the 40’s, to the patriotic music of our country on the July 4th weekend, to the sounds of Broadway musical theater on July 22nd. The summer will undoubtedly heat up with the sounds of brass, as the band pays tribute to Mr. Larry Mann, “The Tuba Man.” Mr. Mann has been a driving force in the community for many years, raising money for several instrumental groups, including the Merced Symphony and the Gateway Brass Ensemble.

The first concert will be held on Friday, June 17, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. The Friday evening concerts will be held at the Merced College Amphitheater, 3600 “M” Street in Merced. The Amphitheater is located just in front of the Administration Building on the main college campus. All concerts are free of charge. Parking is also free.

There will also be a 4th of July concert at 11:00 a.m. in Ralston Park, in the City of Atwater. The band concert in Atwater will start right after the 4th of July parade ends. Please come and enjoy a rousing concert of patriotic favorites!

Each Friday concert will feature a different era, a different sound. The concerts will continue on Fridays, through July 22nd. Bring a picnic dinner and a lawn chair enjoy the sights and sounds of the Merced College Summer Community Band 2005!
