Merced College Hosts Presentation On Project Hope

April 13, 2004

Project Hope, an international outreach effort to assist abandoned and orphaned children in the city of Kisumu, Kenya, is the subject of a public presentation at Merced College on Thursday, April 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Lesher Library Room 1 Theater. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The presentation is sponsored by the Merced College Extended Opportunities Programs and Services office and the Merced Sunrise Rotary Club. The speaker is Modesto Rotarian Dr. David Gallagher, who has devoted himself to the cause of rescuing Kenya’s abandoned children.

Dr. Gallagher estimates that there are 1,500 to 2,500 children living on the streets of Kisumu, a city about the size of Modesto. His presentation will focus on Rotary International’s efforts to improve two existing orphanages and a school in the city.

The public is encouraged to attend this important presentation. Parking is free for the event in Lot A, which is in front of the Barker Administration Building.

For more information, call the EOPS office at (209) 381-6596.
