Financial Aid Increases for Students at Merced College

January 14, 2004

The state's community colleges have received more funds to alleviate the financial burden on students who wish to attend college in the coming year.

"Our students will be surprised to find out how much financial assistance is available to them," said Sharon Reinhardt, interim director of Financial Aid. "For many of our students, the state offers full tuition waivers. With other forms of financial aid, including grants and work study, students should have very little problem enrolling at Merced College."

Registration for the Spring 2004 semester at Merced College's continues for new and former students. The semester begins on January 20, 2004.

New students can begin the registration process by calling 384-6000 to schedule an appointment with an academic counselor. Orientation sessions, which are a convenient way to learn more about the campus, are also available to students. Students are also encouraged to apply for financial aid. The Financial Aid office is located in the Student Union Building.

Merced College offers a complete range of academic programs for those seeking to transfer to a four-year institution. Students who prefer to seek training for the workplace will be pleased by the wide variety of vocational programs. The College also maintains many opportunities for life-long learning through Extended Education.

Tuition is only $18 per unit fee. For more information, call 384-6000.
