Merced Community College Police Department

The Merced Community College Police Department employs 3 full-time and 2 parking enforcement officers, 9 extra help security officers, and support staff for the 24 hour protection of the campus community.

The peace officers of this department have state-wide police authority, and are vested with law enforcement powers and responsibilities, identical to the local police or sheriff departments in your home community. The department is made up of the following sections for Merced Campus Police and Los Banos Campus Security:

1. College Police
2. Parking Enforcement Officers
3. Security Officers
4. Department Staff

The Department maintains a close working relationship with the Merced Police Department, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol, and law enforcement agencies within our four county areas. Information involving all incidents of suspect criminal activity known to involve off campus organizations representing the Community College is routinely directed to the Community College Police by allied agencies. Additionally, the Merced County Sheriffs Department shares dispatching and mutual officer assistance.
