Classes have resumed in the newly remodeled Science Building. While some exterior cleanup projects are still being completed, Merced College faculty and students are now enjoying modern learning facilities. These photos, taken in July, show one of the science lab fume hoods, the prep room in the Physical Science lab, and a faculty office.

May 2007 Photos

With the Science Building remodel project on schedule, this month’s activities include installation of drywall on the first floor addition, texturing, painting and tackboard and the first and second floors, and backfilling exterior planter areas. In June, the interior is expected to be completed as the roof on the addition begins to take shape.

The remodeling of the College’s Science Building continues on schedule. Much of the interior work, including cabinetry, painting, and installation of acoustical ceiling continues. Some of the work for May includes new steel and roofing for the addition, as well as finishing work on the interior.

 Progress continues on the remodeling of the Science Building. This month’s activities include roofing, masonry restoration, and interior painting. The photos show concrete work on interior floors, some drywall installation in the hallway, and exterior masonry work. The project is on schedule for completion later this summer.

The remodel of the Science Building continues with work continuing on the roof, exterior masonry, and interior framing. The project will continue through the summer. These photos show a worker finishing part of the concrete floor, masonry at the stair tower, and the overhead duct work.

January 2007 Photos

The Science Building remodel project is now in its sixth month and progress remains on schedule. The exterior portion of the facility’s west addition is almost complete and the entire project is scheduled for completion in August. Among this month’s activities are completion of the roof, finishing of masonry work on the new, west addition, more interior framing, and other items. These photos show the masonry work on the west addition, the building windows, and the preparation of the roof.

The Science Building remodel project is progressing on schedule. This important educational facility will be ready for students in the fall of 2007. Among this month's activities include work on the roof, additional exterior masonry, and more interior framing. These photos show the delivery of masonry blocks, footings for the heating and air conditioning units, and other mechanical work on the roof.

November 2006 Photos

The Science Building Remodel remains on-schedule for completion. Exterior work is being completed on the roof and exterior masonry, and interior framing is still in progress. Areas are being waterproofed and insulation is being installed. When completed, the Science Building will feature new classrooms and labs and a completely new cadaver room for research.

October 2006 Photos

Progress continues to be on schedule for the remodeling of the Science Building. Footings have been poured for the facility’s additional wing and the existing building is being fireproofed. Once completed, the Science Building will have new labs, classrooms, as well as a cadaver room.

August 2006 Photos

The renovation of the Science Building, the oldest instructional building on the main campus, will provide expanded educational opportunities for students with new lab space, classrooms, study rooms, and meeting rooms. A new wing is also being added to the building.

These photos show the area under the building, which is being prepared for additional footings. The demolition of the 1 st and 2 nd floors is also in progress.
