If you want to learn about what classes to take at Merced College to meet General Education and
Major requirements for many campuses go to Project Assist. However, it is very important that you meet with a counselor to discuss your educational and career plans, and design a Student Educational Plan to meet your transfer goals.

Decide On A
Career Goal
- Explore career options by enrolling in a Guidance 48 class.
- Visit the Merced College Career Center to research careers on our Career Search software programs.

Select An Appropriate Major
- To be most competitive as a UC transfer candidate, complete the lower division major requirements.
- This also applies to impacted majors at a CSU.

STEP 3
Choose A College/ University
- Verify that the college offers your major.
(A Merced College Career Assistant can help you research schools that offer your major.)

STEP 4
Develop an Educational Plan for Transfer
- Work closely with a Merced College Counselor to develop an educational plan and assure careful planning.
- Check the college web site and catalog to determine the G.P.A., major, and general education requirements. (Many colleges offer catalogs online. Hard copy catalogs are available for reference in the Career/Transfer Center.)

- Be aware of application filing dates. Applications are available online and at the Merced College Career/ Transfer Center (209) 384-6239.

*IGETC is only one way to fulfill the lower division G.E. requirements. It is not recommended for
high unit majors and some colleges do not accept IGETC.
